Bereavement Counselling

Grief can feel profoundly disorientating. It can leave you feeling emotionally exhausted, lost, and unsure how to live in a world that no longer feels the same. It isn't just sadness; it can be a messy mix of many feelings or even a strange sense of numbness. There is often so much pressure from the world to move on, but I believe that grief isn't something to be fixed or hurried along. In our sessions, there is no expectation for you to grieve in any particular way. We will go at your pace, sitting with whatever grief brings — sadness, anger, guilt, love, numbness, questions, or the difficulty of living in a world where someone has died. Counselling cannot take the grief away, but it can offer a steady place to speak honestly, to be met where you are, and to begin learning how to live with your loss in your own way. My approach is shaped by years of sitting alongside people in grief — through my private practice, my work as a Service Lead within a bereavement counselling service, and my own personal experience of loss.

You might find that Bereavement counselling helps when:

• grieving the death of someone important to you

• feeling stuck, numb, angry or overwhelmed

• finding it hard to talk to people around you

• feeling that others expect you to have “moved on”

• struggling with complicated feelings after a death

• trying to make sense of life after loss

£65 per session - session are 50 mins and start on the hour.

Counselling for other life challenges

Although grief is a particular area of my professional experience, I also work with people bringing a wide range of difficulties. You might come to counselling because you are feeling anxious, low, lost, stressed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. You may be struggling with relationships, family issues, confidence, life changes, or feelings that are hard to name. You do not need to arrive with everything neatly worked out. Often counselling begins with the simple sense that something does not feel right, and you would like somewhere to talk

honestly.

You might find that counselling helps when:

• feeling anxious, overwhelmed or on edge

• feeling low, flat or disconnected

• struggling with confidence or self-worth

• finding relationships, family life or boundaries difficult

• feeling stuck in old patterns or ways of coping

• going through change, uncertainty or a difficult period in your life

Bereavement Group Work & Reflective Support

Alongside individual counselling, I also offer bereavement group work for organisations, community settings and support services.

Grief can feel very isolating, and being with others who have experienced loss can sometimes offer a different kind of support. Group work can create a steady, respectful space where people can share as much or as little as they want, hear from others, and feel less alone in what they are carrying.

My bereavement groups are facilitated with care, warmth and sensitivity. They are not about giving advice or trying to move people on, but about creating a safe enough space for reflection, connection and honest conversation around grief.

Groups can be adapted depending on the setting and the needs of those attending.

This may include:

• bereavement support groups in community or charity settings

• reflective grief groups within organisations

• support following a shared loss or difficult event

• walk-and-talk bereavement groups

• short-term structured groups around grief, loss and adjustment

• groups for professionals or volunteers supporting bereaved people

I bring experience from my work as Service Lead at a Bereavement Service, where I support bereaved clients, counsellors and volunteers, and understand the importance of holding grief work carefully, ethically and at the right pace.

Group work can be offered as a one-off session, a short series, or an ongoing group depending on the needs of the setting.

Supervision

I offer supervision for counsellors and trainees who want a warm, reflective and ethical place to think about their client work. I am currently offering supervision as a trainee supervisor while I complete my supervision training.

I see supervision as more than a place to report on client work. At its best, it gives us time to slow down and notice what may be happening for the client, within the counsellor, in the relationship, and around the work. It can be supportive, reflective and gently challenging when needed.

My experience in bereavement counselling and service leadership means I have a particular interest in supervising grief and loss work. I also support practitioners to think about endings, risk, boundaries, confidence, relational depth and the emotional impact of the work.

While I am training, my supervision fee is £40 per hour. Once I am qualified as a supervisor, my fee will increase to £60 per hour. You will be given 8 weeks’ notice before this change takes place.
